In Memory

It is with enormous pain and grief that on Sunday 25th July we have lost one of our team mates and great friends.
Thomas Walton will be remember as one who simply loved to play and was happiest when on the pitch with a stick in hand. He has been with WestVic since its very first game in 2005 and prior to that with (Eureka) Golden City Hockey Club and Ballarat High School.
Many of us have played with Tom and have watched him grow from a keen little kid, to the quality player who in three years of SL has not missed a game. He was truly a ‘home-grown’ local talent and we can all be very proud of the player he had become. He always represented our club and himself in the best possible way, giving his all for his team.
To Greg, Sue and Gemma, I speak on behalf of the whole club in expressing our very deepest sympathy. To have to cope with the loss of a much loved son and brother, who had a lifetime to enjoy, must surely be the most difficult realisation to ever imagine. Our hearts go out to you and we can only hope that in our support you can draw some strength.
Thomas’s imposing presence in the midfield will be sadly missed and he will leave a void in our hearts that will never be replaced. He will though never be forgotten and his special gifts will always be with us as long as there is a hockey field on which we can play.
Life is a precious offering and one that we must grasp and make the most of in ways that Thomas would have wanted us to.
In each other we will find support.
